This practical qualification is designed for people already working in the construction and building maintenance sector who want to develop multi-trade skills to progress in their career.
You will demonstrate your competence across a range of tasks, covering repair and refurbishment operations within real working environments.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
To achieve this qualification, you will complete a mix of mandatory and optional units to suit your work.
Mandatory units include:
Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
Confirming work activities and resources for an occupational work area
Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
Optional units cover a range of trade areas such as:
Clearing sites and handing over on completion
Erecting and dismantling access/work platforms
Establishing work area protection and safety
Providing and monitoring construction-related customer service
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is carried out in the workplace by a qualified assessor. You’ll build a portfolio of evidence showing your competence against national occupational standards. You must demonstrate safe working practices, practical skills and underpinning knowledge.

This qualification supports your progression to:
A Level 3 NVQ Diploma in a related trade area
Broader multi-trade roles in building maintenance, repair and refurbishment
Supervisory roles within the construction sector
Industry will recognise this qualification for working across multiple trades in maintenance and repair.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry qualifications, but you must already be employed in the sector and able to demonstrate competence in a real working environment.
