The AM2, AM2S, and AM2E are the national Assessments of Occupational Competence for the electrical industry. These are standardised end-point assessment exams, used in the UK to evaluate the competence of apprentice and practicing electricians.
Administered by the awarding body NET (National Electrotechnical Training), the assessments are a critical part of qualifying as a fully-skilled electrical installation professional. BS7671 IET statutory regulations will not recognise a practicing electrician as competent unless sufficiently qualified and complete relevant AM2 assessment.
Assessments involve a series of timed, hands-on tasks carried out under exam conditions, simulating real-world electrical work. Successfully completing the relevant AM2 assessment is a key step toward becoming a qualified electrician and gaining ECS Gold Card status.
