The AAT qualification provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to work in an accounting environment, and is the ideal qualification for anyone wanting to work as an accounting technician. The requirements of this course are based on nationally agreed standards of competence. The education and training scheme is designed to provide the maximum flexibility to suit people from a wide range of circumstances and with diverse backgrounds. This course is ideally suited for those who already have a basic knowledge of the accounting environment, either through previous study or through practical experience.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
Classes will be taught by experienced professionals through a range of classroom activities designed to apply your learning to real life situations. This course is also available via distance learning where tutor support will be available via email/telephone at prearranged times. You will be required to attend the College for examinations and skills tests.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed via AAT online end of unit examinations.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS COURSE COST?
You will have the option of studying during the day time or two evenings per week. This course starts in September 2025, via distance learning. You will be required to purchase textbooks and workbooks (10 in total) for this course. You will also have to register as a student member of the AAT and pay the relevant registration and membership fees.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
The Level 2 Certificate provides a platform to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting: this is subject to the agreement of your tutor and an interview (where necessary). Qualifying with the AAT will boost your career prospects, improve earning potential and assist personal development.
Job roles available on successful completion of a Level 2 qualification includes: Accounts administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable Clerk, Book Keeper, Payroll Officer, Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk, Trainee Accounting Technician, Trainee Finance Assistant, Tax Assistant and Payroll Administrator.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All students are required to undertake an application assessment prior to enrolling to determine suitability for entry onto the programme.
Please note: Maths and English GCSE grade D or equivalent (Functional Skills Level 1) is essential.
